- Create a connection between the kitchen and sun room to bring more light into the kitchen and connect to the outside
- Remove permanently affixed window AC’s from bedroom windows and deck door to bring in more light.
- Install ducted mini-split AC to bedroom floor and install new large windows for more light, air, and egress
- Renovate garden level basement to be used as a multi-purpose rec room. Installed colored cement tiles to make a fun space for family movies, ping pong and sleepovers
Design and Implementation
Layout & Circulation

Materials and Finishes
- Custom kitchen with local marble and custom millwork made locally.
- Montclair Danby marble countertop
- Refinished floors. Removed carpet from stair and refinished. Replaced linoleum
- Green slate floors in the bathroom with Waterworks fixtures
Key Elements
- Fresh Paint that lightened every room
- New central air and windows to bring in more light to the bedroom floor
- New tiled basement floor for rec room
- New exterior paint to refresh and brighten the house
Challenges
- Old house required lots of on-site problem solving for finding areas for electrical runs, air handlers and duct work.
Outcome
The renovation delivered a brighter and refreshed home. By clearing space for a dining table in the kitchen and opening it to the sung room, the kitchen became a central gathering place for the house. Meanwhile by removing the dining table from the living room the living room acquired multiple space for reading, card playing, and lounging by the fire place. The flow of the house is much improved and every room has its own charm. The bedroom floor is much more comfortable with the central AC and with bigger windows the residents are much more connected to the surrounding forest.
